We see that nature lovers across the world take great enthusiasm to celebrate World Environment Day by working on various initiatives to protect our environment, including plantation of saplings with the intention of improving the green cover of our environment. It doesn’t stop at just planting of saplings. There needs to be consistent efforts taken to ensure that the sown saplings go on to become beautiful trees and gardens over time, sharing fruits and flowers for all!
Similarly, when seeds of love are sown in our hearts, we must ensure to protect the saplings from the harsh effects of negative traits such as anger, jealousy etc. to ensure that the love sown in our hearts grows and remains unsullied. Thus, the spiritual significance of the World Environment Day would be for us to ensure that the love in our hearts grow into a samrajyam (Kingdom of love) or a garden of Love sharing positivity and love as fruits and flowers to one and all!
The sadhana one needs to undertake, starting this World Environment Day, is to ensure that one’s love expands to start from loving oneself to loving one’s families and friends, and to further loving the whole world considering everyone as one family (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam).
