Independence Day Celebrations with Abhinandana (youth empowerment programme) attendees

Back in July, young and ambitious minds participated in a youth empowerment workshop ‘Abhinandana’ that had provided them with a platform to listen and interact with great minds from various walks of the society. As a part of the Independence Day celebrations, the 100 youth and adolescents, carrying a tricolor flag in their hands and wearing a small badge of the national flag on their chests, congregated again to display their true spirit of patriotism. Organized by Sri Sathya Sai Trust For Universal Welfare, the young hearts were welcomed to the independence day celebrations programme by a introductory speech by Brother Sivasai. This was followed by a vibrant speech by Sri. Nagur Baig, Ex-Navy & Social activist, on the importance of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Some children shared their thoughts about our nation, and about their personal transformation due to their association with the Sai Center ‘Sai Prema’.

A professor from a leading engineering college addressed the children about ‘Unity in Diversity’. We next had our trustee Sri. RamaMurthy, who made the children aware about various programmes that are undertaken by the trust for the welfare of the society. The programme ended with graceful dance performances of Sai Students on various patriotic songs.

Wrist Watches were then distributed to all the attendees. The young minds were reminded of the importance of time and were asked to practise the expansion of the word WATCH (i.e. one must Watch their Words, Action, Thoughts, Character and Heart).

The trust also took the opportunity to felicitate a few guests for their selfless service to Society. After Aarathi, Divya Prasadam followed for all including children and parents. The children, at the end of the day, took home a strong message: ‘A true Patriot is one who serves the society selflessly’
