Inauguration of SO-HAM the Home for the Old Aged
In Krita Yuga it was Aditi
In Treta it was Kausalya
In Dwapara it was Devaki
In Kaliyuga it is Devagiramma!
The four got together and conceived a great idea. They brought their four instincts into one place; refined and moulded the same into a pretty golden idol. Who is that? That’s none other than Angel of Angels Our Eswaramma!!!
Eswaramma’s name, the name of the chosen mother of Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba will remain etched ever in the hearts of Mankind like that of the Sun and the Moon that never fade away in God’s Creation. For those connected with Sri Sathya Sai DIVYAAMRITAM, the Eswaramma day was celebrated in high spirits as many loving children gathered at one village Malliveedu to join other devotees, volunteers and parents. This time it was just not a Summer camp for them but they were the fortunate lot that witnessed the inauguration of SO-HAM, a Vriddhashram, the home for the Old Age and received bountiful blessings.
One day an old woman was left near a temple of the town by a merciless son giving her a false hope that he would come again to take her back home. The poor old woman was so innocent like a child that she did not even know the name of her village nor the address. The Lord took pity on the Old woman who was deceived by her own son and did the needful to give her protection. Immediately after this episode as per His Divine plan an abandoned building used earlier as an Old Age home in a dilapidated condition was identified for providing the Divine shelter to the homeless Old aged ones who have no one to rely upon. All this happened as blessed by Swami a couple of months ago.
The building lay hidden and looked inaccessible with weeds and snakes around amidst the lush green area that is occupied by mango groves and many other fruit bearing trees like jackfruit etc.
The Volunteers of the Sri Sathya Sai Divyaamritam with the guidance and blessings of their Master jumped into the act turning the whole area into a Divine Farm house with every amenity that a Senior Citizen can hope to live in their Vaanaprastha. Such is the love of Swami that HE provides everything beyond’s one’s imagination truly empathising with them in every aspect.
No one knows whether the volunteers who served in this Divine project slept at all in those twelve nights while they ate frugally.
Sri Prahlada Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Homa was performed and the Lord offered the Poornaahuti after which the place was inaugurated for occupation duly boiling the milk for making Pongal with Rice in the kitchen by an elderly woman. While a caretaker, a cook are designated to take care of the blessed ones, the first aid facilities and a physician (to be available in call and short notice) have also been taken care of.
Truly, the Celebrations organised under the canopy of Mango groves were a treat to the eyes and ears with the Lord enjoying every bit of the dance performance, soulful bhajans and the experiences shared by the volunteers.
The landlady of the place who maintained an Old age home at this place in the earlier years looked overwhelmingly taken aback by the Divine Aura that engulfed the place in just a trice and converted it into a hermitage. Her joy knew no bounds while she fell at the Master’s Feet saying that her dreams over last 30 years got realised and she has nothing more to dream for other than Saayujyam with her Master. One very senior retired teacher Sri Narayana Murty still teaching in his 70s gave an exemplary talk elucidating the essence of Upanishads and Vedic Mantra So-Ham that enriched the knowledge of those present while another retired lady teacher went ecstatic recalling the merits of students who have scaled great heights in their selfless services to the Society and showered appreciation to the facility provided.
The Lord in His Divine Discourse recalled how Eswaramma, an epitome of selflessness and sacrifice always pined for the welfare of fellow beings. He took by name each and every volunteer and Devotee that participated in making the Old age home happen in the least possible time and blessed each one of them. He emphasised the need to develop Antar-Drishti so as to give up identification with one’s body and mind in order to be one with the ONE by chanting the SO-HAM Mantra with every inhalation and with every exhalation of one’s breath!
